Problem

  • In order to connect its student network to opportunities in the tech industry, CodeHouse needed to create a new intake process for companies to partner with them and submit events and opportunities for their students.

  • Additionally, they had no way to showcase their students to these partners, and wanted to provide a first-class experience to highlight essential career profile information.

Solution

  • Matched with CodeHouse through Prometheus, Marcy Lab Alumni built a custom web application that gives students a centralized platform to access career opportunities, and in turn, technology companies the ability to partner with CodeHouse and recruit their students.

  • Alumni were split into four scrum teams to develop user-friendly interfaces for both CodeHouse students and partners using React, Tailwind, Chakra UI, and Next.js. These experiences Included:

    • A registration form that allows students to create a profile on CodeHouse’s talent page, where partners can click on each profile to learn more about, and connect with students.

    • A grid and calendar view of all career opportunities and events for students to search for, and the ability for partners to submit additional opportunities.

    • An intake form that allows companies to register and create profiles on CodeHouse’s partner page, where students can search for them

“My experience working on a Prometheus project was great as it allowed me to not only freshen up my skills as a software engineer but also grow as a leader, make proactive decisions in my team [and] to communicate better with given time restraints to my project manager and my teammates. I feel more confident as a software engineer finishing my project and got more real-work experience on what building a project for a client may look like…” - Joseph  (Marcy Lab Alum)
