Problem
CareerSpring unlocks the employment potential of first-generation low-income students by providing career information, social capital, and job placement services. As a part of their programs, they create different engagement opportunities, such as candidate coaching, lunch-and-learns, and consulting to prepare college students for post-grad professions. They collected career success data on their students over the years in Google Sheets, but lacked the capacity to conduct a comprehensive program evaluation to ensure they are providing the most effective engagement opportunities.
Solution
Through a Prometheus Capstone Program, The Knowledge House Data Science fellows created a statistical analysis using CareerSpringʼs 2024 career success data to identify which resources helped students secure first-time job offers.
To create these reports, the team conducted an exploratory data analysis to better understand CareerSpringʼs data quality. The team designed a comparative data model to benchmark the organizationʼs program outcomes with national employment outcomes. From these reports, CareerSpring identified their most impactful resources and used this information to advocate for an additional staff member to support them.

“Working on a Prometheus project was very a great experience. I learned so much; from team leadership skills, analytics engineering, [and the] contractor/consulting arm of the field of Data Science and Analytics. I'm much better prepared for my pursuits as a tech generalist.ˮ - Fari, (Data Science Fellow, The Knowledge House )
