Problem
Uptown & Boogie Healthy Project expands access to fresh, nutritious food and micro-mobility education within Harlem and the Bronx. Their programming creates opportunities for low-income community residents in under-resourced areas to learn how to lead healthier lifestyles through food and fitness. The organization faced challenges managing their Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) members, vendor payments, and tracking wholesale vendor purchases and pricing. These tasks often led to administrative burdens, errors in record-keeping, and difficulty accurately estimating profit or loss.
Solution
A Fullstack Engineer from our network built a custom web application with React and Next.js to streamline the produce purchasing process for CSA members. Through a user-friendly interface, CSA members can log in via email, browse available produce, and complete their purchases through Stripe Checkout. The engineer also used Airtable as the backend, which our partner can easily maintain and update to store product and user membership data.

"Working on the CSA Member Portal was incredibly rewarding. I had the chance to collaborate directly with a nonprofit and contribute to a tool that helps connect communities with fresh produce. From planning to deployment, I led development across authentication, product selection, and Stripe integration — and seeing the project come to life was a proud moment for me." - Adithi (Student, Northeastern)
